It’s the second anniversary of the Hendriks Psychology blog, and as is traditional, I’m giving a run down of the most popular blog posts. So, without further ado, here is the list:
- Unrelenting Standards Schema 5 September 2018
Last year it came second and was devastated. Second place, for those with the Unrelenting Standards Schema, feels like death. Think Michael Jordan in the Chicago Bulls. Thankfully for the ego of this article, it was the most popular over the last 12 months.
- Abandonment Schema 3 February 2019
This article felt left out and rejected last year as it missed out on making the list. Those with an Abandonment Schema fear desertion and neglect and often cling on to loved ones for dear life.
- Emotional Deprivation Schema – The Emotional Stranger 9 November 2018
No longer first place, and no one seemed to notice or care. The Emotional Deprivation schema occurs when people have lacked nurturance or guidance in their formative years. Leading to lifetime of feeling that nobody cares, including oneself.
- Social Isolation Schema 22 March 2019
Another one which was left off last years list, while the other articles laughed and had a good time. People with the Social Isolation Schema feel socially different or unlikable.
- Self-Sacrifice Schema 31 October 2018
Just came 5th this year instead of third. That’s alright, the Self-Sacrificing Schema is used to being out of the limelight. It’s not a show pony. It’s a lifter not a leaner. This schema is for people who feel guilt-ridden when thinking of putting themselves first.
So, obviously the schema-themed articles are striking a chord. But all these articles were written in the first year of the blog. Which of the articles written in the last 12 months were the most popular? Surely the schema articles would not dominate this list too?! See for yourself:
- The Mistrust-Abuse Schema
- The Negativity-Pessimism Schema
- The Insufficient Self-Control Schema
- The Imposter Syndrome
- The Punitiveness Schema
So, a good year for schema articles on this blog. Look forward to more articles on schema therapy in the year to come. In the meantime, also enjoy the series on most common disorders, thinking traps and antifragility!
